Week 2: So far so good
February 27th, 2007 by moondyWell week 2 has commenced and yesterdays lesson was great. We did a serious run through of the play and it looked as though everyone had gotten the gist of it. Personally due to the lack of lines in the play i chose to have a small meeting with Kimmi to get things outta the way. We discussed various issues concerning lighting and stage craft. Issues like HOW we are going to work cooperatively with each other in the most effective way.
I also brought up a number of issues with it being slightly irrelevant at the time but i figured I’d rather get them out then keep them in and forget them. So for the most part people disagreed with my BYO idea, because it might offend the principle and various other school hierarchies.
But my question to all of you is this. You seem to be concerned of the highly unlikely event of kids getting drunk, but not of the extremely grotesquely explained references to a mans genitalia?
That’s my 2 cents.
Until next time,
moondy

I think I agree with your view Mondy - I thought the reaction was a bit over the top as well. However, now that the references to genitalia have been toned down I don’t think that will offend anyone either. Still, if I follow your train of thought here, the important question that the group should address is this: If all you are going to do is worry about offending people, then is it worth doing it at all?
In the meantime, focus on your big job ahead. You now need to compile a “prompt copy” of the script - meet with me and I will demonstrate. Glad you sorted through issues with Kim.
