Week 6: Jospehs last stand
April 20th, 2007 by moondyWhat a hectic few days it has been for me. The musical performances were surly something that has benefited me in the long run. Never mind the lack of dinner after Sunday nights performance, sleep, amount of time to do home work, stress and being picked up one hour after everyone has left…yes even the cleaners (yay family). Besides all those let downs i can only look at Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat  in posotive way. In 7 days i probably learnt more about being a stage manager then i would have if i studied the Internet for weeks. Tony McCartney (stage manger) was a real pleasure to work with as he really gave a massive confidence boost in my role as a stage crew to being a stage manager. Just watching him work showed me that without a stage manger the show can not go on. Apart from the importance of his job he still had time to attend my needs and even gave me an opportunity to put on the headphones. At first i was a bit sceptic of scotty idea in sticking me in the play with only 2 days before the actual performance but as always he seems to know whats best for his students and for the play as a whole (as arrogant as this may sound if i wasn’t there they wouldn’t have gotten half the things done in time…and i thought i was weak :O). A special thanks to Scotty for helping me out when i needed and giving me explicit instructions to not do the filming to replace a sick kid (which inevitably worked out that 2 kids replaced both mine and Courtney’s jobs…).
As you would probably know last night was the finale were i (finally) got to bow. It was a glorious 3 seconds of fame but well worth the wait. In a sense i thought the last night would be done with a little more professionalism by the cast and crew but i have to admit even i wasn’t paying too much attention to detail, either way we got the job done and thats all the matters.Â
untill next time,
moondy
