After Dinner Synopsis
After Dinner is an ironic black comedy set in a modern day suburban pub on a typical Friday night out. A classic Aussie comedy, After Dinner was written by Andrew Bovell.
Office workers, Dympie, the neurotic control freak and happy go lucky groupie/earth mother Paula hit their local watering hole every Friday evening to unwind. They have a few glasses of wine and watch the band and talk about their single status. On this particular evening, the pair take pity on their recently widowed colleague Monika and invite her along. Parallel conversations occur on the other side of the bar with Gordon,  a bit of a loser who’s wife’s just left him because he wouldn’t put out in bed and Stephen , a Neanderthal in “pleather†pants who’s out for a meaningless shag.
As the night goes on, the characters reveal themselves for who they truly are - all desperately lonely people with one thing in common. They want to be loved.
